There are several specific architectural features of the McKnight Center (glass front, ceiling, arches, etc.) that I have incorporated into the linework. Adding another typeface to incorporate the embellishments of the poster designs from the 19th century was also my suggestion. Gold embossing and gold leaf are other accessories I added to make it more elegant and give it a gala feel. Together, these elements and the metallic signatures of the artists make the art stand out when framed.
Posters from the 19th century have a lot of embellishments and flourishes, along with amazing typography and patterns. In order to achieve a pleasing look for the Gala poster, an amalgamation of 19th-century art and posters combined with the new age was ideal for this event. Both would be combined, creating a sense of the early 19th century while having a classic feel that people are familiar with today.
